*TI-Connect, a computer program
*USB or COM port

Step 1: Start TI-Connect and connect the link cable to your computer and calculator

To run prgmBOREDOM, run it from the program menu.
You may see a message that says:

ERR: ARCHIVED
1: Quit
2: Goto

If you see this, first choose quit. Press 2nd, [+] to go to the memory menu. Press

until you are selecting BOREDOM. If there is a * right before it, press enter to unarchive
the program.

prgmBOREDOM is MirageOS compatable. If you have MirageOS and would prefer to run it through
that, feel free to do so. If you don't use MirageOS or don't know what it is, don't bother,
because it isn't needed to run prgmBOREDOM.

If you ever need to quit prgmBOREDOM right away, just press the ON key. It will work
anywhere in the program.

----------------------------------------------------
2: Starting a Data File and User Variables used
----------------------------------------------------

When you run prgmBOREDOM, you will be presented by a title screen. Not a very special one,
eh? After this, it will ask you whether this is your first time playing. If it is, choose
Yes from the menu after the question. It will then ask you for your name. Type it in and
press enter. Then you will be asked to choose an avatar. Choose one of the seven
characters provided for you to move around in the lobby. Congratulations! You did it!

By the way, the following variables will be used/created by prgmBOREDOM:

3: The Lobby, Options
----------------------------------------------------

Now you should be in the lobby, with all its ASCII graphical glory. You will notice that
the avatar you have chosen is in the lobby. The controls are quite simple for the lobby:
Up- Move up, select game
Down- Move down, leave
Left- Move Left
Right- Move right
That shouldn't be too difficult. To quit and return to the homescreen, just move down through
the door at the bottom of the screen and confirm that you wish to quit. To play a game, just
move up to one of the letters at the top and press up to start that game.
From left to right, here is the list of games and their symbols:

 B -Button Masher
 F -Fortune Teller
 R -Rock Paper Scissors a.k.a. () -- >8
 G -Number Guesser
 ? -Options

The Options Menu appears when you choose the ? from the lobby. You can view your data,
change your name, change your avatar, or reset records. After doing any of these, you
are returned to the lobby.

There is also a hidden option that will only appear once you have done certain things!
If you must find out what it is, you can always look in the program... but it should be
an easy thing to find.

----------------------------------------------------
4: The Games
----------------------------------------------------

There are 4 distinct games in prgmBOREDOM, all very simple.

Button Masher
There are no goals in Button masher- it is a simple time waster. After choosing it from the
lobby and choosing START, the word "READY..." appears. Press enter. When you do, you can
start hitting buttons. Every time you press a button, the word "Ow!" appears. Press enter
to stop the button masher and view your results. Sounds simple? It should be. Try to
get 1000 button presses!

Fortune Teller
After choosing START from the menu, you will recieve a random fortune. There are 15 in
total, although some don't really count as fortunes... The game records the number of
fortunes you have seen. Try to break 100 for a special prize...

Rock Paper Scissors
The classic game. You can play by yourself, against a friend, or even watch two computers!
Rock beats scissors, paper beats rock, and scissors beats paper, in case you didn't know.
Simply choose the type of game you want, and choose one of the 3 objects. Wins, losses,
and draws are recorded.
Rock=() Paper=-- Scissors= 8<

Number Guesser
This is a very simple game. First, choose to pick a random number, have a stupid AI
attempt to guess your number, or have someone else guess your number. After you choose the
type of game, you must choose a range of numbers- a minimum and a maximum. Depending on what
you have chosen, you may have to input a number within that range. Otherwise, it will be
random. Then you must guess the number (or the calculator will, if it is guessing). You
get 3 chances- if you miss, you will be told if the real number is higher or lower than
your guess. It is much easier than this description looks.

Q&A

Q: I think I found an error in the program. What should I do?
A: You should probably tell me, but there is a chance that the "error" is intentional.

Q: Can I edit this game?
A: YES! In fact, that is why I made it.

Q: Why can't I make my own avatar?
A: I felt it really wasn't necessary. Besides, I didn't want anyone using 2+ digit strings
as avatars. If you really want to, you can just type this in your calculator on the
homescreen: "(Character Goes here!)"->Str7. The arrow is the STO-> key.

Q: Why are you helping out n00bs?
A: Everyone was a n00b once. I'm also trying to keep them from filling the forums at
   calcgames.org.

Q: Why did you make this instead of some high-quality game?
A: Um... this was easier. :)

Q: Can I e-mail you if I have problems with my calculator?
A: It depends. Use me as a last resort. If nothing works, just send me your questions.
